Workshops for little makers
Saturday mornings of sawdust, glue and paint. Toddlers and young children build, mend and make something real with their own two hands, and take it home.
Natural materials, made to be mended
Toys, clothes and rooms for children aged 0 to 6, plus hands-on workshops and garden play spaces where they get to build the real thing.

We started with one low shelf and a stubborn idea: children don't need more, they need things worth coming back to.
See what we make

Four ways we spend time with families: in the workshop, in the bedroom, in the post, and out in the garden.

Saturday mornings of sawdust, glue and paint. Toddlers and young children build, mend and make something real with their own two hands, and take it home.

We design the whole room around your child: a low bed they can climb into, shelves they can reach, and space left over for the floor games that actually happen.

Four deliveries a year of stage-matched toys and equipment. Everything they've outgrown comes back to us to be cleaned, repaired and passed on.

Timber climbing frames, mud kitchens and growing beds, made from local wood and set into your own garden, designed to weather beautifully.

Fable & Fern began at a kitchen table, sanding a stool for a two-year-old who wanted to help with the washing-up. That's still the whole idea: give a child real work, real materials and enough time, and they'll show you what they can do.
Everything we sell or build is made to be handed down. If something breaks, send it back. We'd rather mend it than make another.
Responsibly grown timber and organic cotton. Materials that came from somewhere real and go back gently.
Simple, sturdy and the right size for a child doing a real job on their own.
Plastic-free packing, water-based finishes, and a promise to mend or rehome anything we've made.
Add anything you like to your basket and send it over as an enquiry, and we'll come back to you personally with availability, timings and a quote.
